Like every year, December was the month of reflection and looking back. It’s a time of annual overviews, selections and lists. Known and lesser-known Dutch people – from politicians to athletes, from writers to musicians, and from fashion designers to ‘oliebollen’ bakeries – all were hoping to be included in some illustrious list. And with that, to safeguard their immortality.
